"register for time" form
12:31 PM EST 1/23/08
NH librarians tell us that finding time to work on the "free" courses available through WJNH is their biggest stumbling block to using them. One forward thinking library director began assigning work time for her staff to use taking courses, believing that the savings on travel & travel time & tuition for in-corpus options was more than enough savings to offset it.

To encourage this allocation of work time for CE, we are trying something new - more paperwork! see below:

"To help you get time at work to take e-courses, NHSL has created a totally voluntary course registration form, which you may submit to your library supervisor:

Go to the NHSL E-Course Registration Form ยป

After mentioning this on the Monthly CP call, I was asked to post information about it here. This has just begun - only time will tell whether it helps.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share this with the group, Tom. This form is a great way to give people the authority to take the time they need for professional development activities.

Keep us posted on the feedback you get from people!

This is a great idea Tom and I'm looking forward to hearing more about how it is received and used. Keep us posted.
