We experienced some database issues related to last weekend’s install that has prevented some users from posting documents and discussions to the site.

We believe that the issues we experienced yesterday were caused by a large addition of course content to the platform, which negatively impacted the indexing system (indexes are “pointers” that allow searches, etc, to find information more rapidly). Once the initial index “locked up,” a series of cascading index-locks then followed, causing the Production outage we all experienced.

Our developers have modified the indexing structure and we have seen evidence of content updates to the site since these modifications were made (i.e. new discussion posts & documents added to the site), so it appears that the changes are working.

We are continuing to monitor the platform and will send out additional updates if necessary.
